Transitional Housing Program


The Transitional Housing Program offers short-term, transitional housing to men over the age of 18. Rooms (dormitory or private) and meals are available at subsidized rates.

Participants must be present in the facility for an intake assessment for the official acceptance to the program.

We accept program participants who are a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age.

Those with physical and/or mental health deficits must be able to live independently at low risk with minimal internal or external assistance.

We require proof of identification (photo, government-issued).

Program participants must be willing to accept and follow program policies and sign the Transitional Housing Program Agreement which includes a willingness to:

  • ​Not use alcohol or illegal/illicit substances within the Centre, and not be intoxicated in or on the premises.

  • Be able to safely manage two flights of stairs.

  • Hand in all medications and/or prescriptions to staff for medication storage.

  • Agree that the Salvation Army's designated pharmacy will be utilized to fill all prescriptions while residing at Transitional Housing Program.

  • Understand and accept that specialized diets cannot be accommodated.

  • Agree to store all belongings in a locker (dorm).

Program participants must be financially capable of paying for the accommodation fees and must keep their account current (paid up to date). Clients will receive support accessing Social Services.

  • All new intakes start in our dorms.

  • Access to coin-operated washers/dryers

  • TV lounge

  • Quiet Room

  • Library

  • Free computer access

We provide three (3) meals a day, 365 days a year, in our cafeteria.​​

Admission Criteria

Program participants have the option to use Salvation Army's designated pharmacy to fill prescriptions while residing at the Transitional Housing Program.

Program participants can arrange to meet with our Chaplain for spiritual support and guidance, and with staff to provide further assistance as needed. Assistance includes but is not limited to housing searches, Social Services, emotional and psychological support where required.

Where do our program participants come from?

We accept referrals from Social Workers, Public and Mental Health professionals, Public Trustees, Correctional Services, AISH, all faith groups and self-referrals.
