Celebrating Kiran's Janet Hughes Award Recognition
A commitment to serving others and creating meaningful community connections has earned Kiran, a team member at the Edmonton Centre of Hope, the prestigious Janet Hughes Award from the Edmonton Food Bank.
The award was presented by Salma Lakhani, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, at the Edmonton Food Bank Annual General Meeting. It recognizes an individual or organization that has demonstrated exceptional resilience, adaptability, and dedication while serving their community.
A Passion for Serving Others
Kiran was recognized for his outstanding work with the Edmonton Centre of Hope's Cook Events program. Through his leadership, creativity, and commitment to hospitality, he has helped create welcoming experiences that bring people together and foster a sense of belonging.
Whether supporting community events, collaborating with colleagues, or finding innovative ways to serve participants, Kiran consistently demonstrates a spirit of compassion and excellence.
"This award is a reflection of Kiran's dedication to the people we serve and his commitment to making a positive difference every day," said members of the Edmonton Centre of Hope Team.
A Special Family Moment
Several members of the Edmonton Centre of Hope team, including Vanessa, Rebecca, and Shristi, attended the ceremony to celebrate alongside Kiran and his family.
The evening also included a memorable surprise for Aurush, Kiran's son. Having recently learned about the role of the Lieutenant Governor in school, Aurush had the opportunity to meet Lieutenant Governor Salma Lakhani in person. In a special and unexpected moment, he was presented with an Alberta pin, making the occasion even more meaningful for their family.
